BOLD CITY SCHOLARSHIPS
Congratulations to our 2025 Scholarship Winners!
We’re so pleased to recognize our 2025 scholarship winners Aaron Malauulu and Aalisha Harper. These outstanding students have a bold future ahead of them. We wish them the very best in their academic endeavors.
Aalisha graduated from City Arts and Leadership Academy. She is active in the Boys & Girls Club, which she credits with instilling “confidence and purpose with the urgency to advocate for what is really valuable to me and my community.” Her career aim is to work toward a bachelor’s degree in Biology – as a stepping stone toward an advanced degree in forensic science or molecular biology. “I want to work in a field where science meets purpose, where I’m not only learning about life but using that knowledge to help others or solve real-world problems,” she says. She’s headed to San Francisco State in the Fall.
Aaron graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School and has been active in the Somoan Community Development Center (SCDC). In a letter of recommendation for Aaron, SCDCs director describes him as “a leader and advocate” with a drive “to create positive change in our city, and our communities.” Aaron points to a life-changing 2-week service learning project in the Dominican Republic for inspiring him to want to focus on helping uplift communities in need. His career aim is to become an architect focused on designing better homes for people in our community. He will be attending City College in the Fall.
